Franklin Everett
“Buck” Beall, 84, died September 17, 2009 at the V. A. Hospital in
Iowa City, Iowa. He was born March 19, 1925 near Highland Center,
Iowa to Ross Ensign and Belle Stonebraker Beall. He attended school
in Sigourney. Buck was in the U.S. Army from September 16, 1943
until October 13, 1945 serving in Southern France, Rhineland, and
Central Europe. He was a prisoner of war for 10 months in Austria.
He received two Purple Hearts, four Bronze Stars and the Bronze Star
Medal. On March 6, 1946 he married Colleen Arlene Moore in
Kirksville, Missouri. He was employed by Charles Phelps and later he
owned and operated Buck’s Phillips 66 in Sigourney. Later he sold
Walnut Grove Feed, and drove truck for Kingsbury Homes. Funeral service
10:00 a.m. Monday September 21, 2009 at the First Presbyterian
Church in Sigourney. A Memorial Fund has been established.
