Samuel Irwin Bunting, 71, died January 4, 2010 in Galena,
Illinois. He was born July 5, 1938 in Oskaloosa to Harvey Louis and
Elsie Lucille Rockwell Bunting. He graduated from What Cheer High
School in1956. He farmed in the What Cheer area. On June 18, 1971
he married Pauline Elizabeth Doud in Omaha, Nebraska.They continued
to farm for years and he was also a representative for American
Breeder Services. Later he retired from farming and moved to Fulton,
Illinois where he was employed by Agra King. He worked for Braniger Construction, and later started S & P Construction. They
moved to Elizabeth to 1992. Recently Sam did maintenance for Eagle
Ridge, and contracted landscaping and snow removal. He attended St. Marys Church in Elizabeth.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife Pauline, children Bryan and wife Esther
Bunting of Iowa City, Ryan Bunting and friend Nancy Garber of What
Cheer, Tami Bunting-Broom –Smith of Seaside Park, New Jersey, Julie
Marie Bunting of Raleigh, North Carolina. Jeff and wife Mary Albert
of Sigourney, Georgia and husband Rainer Schmidt of Cedar Rapids,
Paul and wife Susanna Albert of Austin, Texas, Kirk Albert and
fiancee Loraine West of
Sigourney, Brad and wife Bernie Albert of Sigourney, 16
grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, one sister Shirley Van Dalen
of Oskaloosa.
Funeral Service: Friday 10:00 A.M. St. Mary
Catholic Church – Sigourney
Burial: Union Mills Cemetery near What Cheer
Visitation: Thursday after 4:00 P.M. with a Prayer Service at 5:00
P.M. at the Holm Funeral Home.
Memorial Fund has been established.
