Doris Conner


  Doris Mae Rockwell Conner, 82, died February 24, 2016. She was born January 5, 1934 in Oskaloosa, Iowa to Harry William Rockwell and LaRue Everhart Rockwell.   Doris attended schools in Mahaska County as well as elementary schools in Oskaloosa, Fremont, and Sigourney. She graduated from Sigourney High School in 1951.  Attended Iowa Wesleyan College receiving a two-year Teaching Certificate and then a B. A. from William Penn College with graduate work at University of Iowa.  She taught in Hedrick, Webster and over 30 years in Sigourney. On August 2, 1953 she married Hobart Darrell Conner.
  Doris served on the library board, Dumont Museum board, public health advisory board and Volunteered at the Main Street Office and Keokuk County Historical Society. She was a member of the B.E. bridge club since 1970. Retired School Personnel, Zeta Tau Alpha sorority, United Methodist Church, Delta Kappa Gamma. Her hobbies included traveling, reading, genealogy, her family, the Red Hat Society, and helping with MotorIoway.
  She was preceded in death by her parents, son Drew Eric Conner, three sisters Jean LaRue Danner, Frances Joan Westrem, Phyllis Joy Baker, and two brothers Ned William Rockwell and infant Steven Lynn Rockwell.
  She is survived by her husband Darrell, children Dirk Alan (SuzAnn) Conner of Fairbank, Darci Anne Conner Farnum of Estherville Dustin Dee Conner of Wellman, four grandchildren Luke Ellis ( Bethany) Conner, Ethan William Conner, Graye Conner Farnum and fiancé, Payton David Farnum, one great grandchild Chelsea Saphira Conner and one brother Ted William Rockwell.
