Dennis Dee Rankin, 68, died January 15, 2016 at his home. He was
born November 16, 1947 in Sigourney to Russell and Doris Allene
Olive Rankin. He attended school in Delta and graduated from
Sigourney High School in 1965. Denny worked for Rock Island
Railroad and was drafted into the Army January of 1968 and served to
January 1970. On August 23, 1969 he married Mary Kathryn Jamieson in
Albia and they later divorced. After the Army Denny returned to work
at the railroad. In 1976 his father retired and he took over the
business of Rankin Oil and later sold it to Farm Service. In 1988
he started working at Vermeer where he worked until his retirement
in 2008. He was a former member of the American Legion in Delta.
Denny helped place the flags at Garrett cemetery on Memorial Day and
Veterans Day for many years. He was an avid Iowa Hawkeye and
Chicago Cubs fan. Denny loved riding his Harley, going to his
grandchildren’s sporting events, fishing, hunting, mushroom hunting,
and playing cards with the guys.

He is survived by
daughters Karla (Travis LaGrange) Rankin of Marengo, Diana (Mark)
Foster of Sigourney, and Stacie (Brett) Hammes of Sigourney. Five
grandchildren Brandon Vermillion, Kayla Vermillion, Sean Sellers,
Stacia Hammes, and Deven Foster. Two great-grandchildren London
Vermillion and Greenlee Kitzman. One brother Michael Rankin of
