Sarah Lou Smithart, 69, died October 7, 2012 at the Keokuk County Health
Center in Sigourney. She was born October 13, 1942 to Lloyd Garland
and Virginia Sipes Deitrich in Sigourney, Iowa. As a young girl
Sarah delivered papers and show bills. She graduated from Sigourney
High School in 1960. On May 30, 1961 she married Russell Earl
Smithart at Evangelical and Reformed Church parsonage in Sigourney.
They lived and farmed in the Lancaster area for many years. She was
employed by Albaugh Grocery, Head Start and the Sigourney Community
School District as a cook, she retired in 1991 as the head cook. She
later worked at Kids and Company Preschool and Keokuk County
Veterinary Clinic for 13 years. Sarah was a founding member of the

Blakesburg, Sherry Hammes of Jackson, Missouri, four brothers John
David Deitrich of Davenport, Jim Deitrich of Sigourney, Gary
Deitrich of Ollie, Mcgee Deitrich of Cedar Rapids.
