Carol Hootman

Carol Gene Hootman, 86, died November 14, 2022 at his home in Webster, Iowa. He was born January 24, 1936 to Arthur and Alice Black Hootman near Birmingham, Iowa. He graduated from Vinton High School in 1954. He was employed by Iowa Steel and Iron Works for 20 years.  In 1970 Carol and his sister Nancy and brother in law John purchased Timberlane Lodge near Ear Falls, Ontario, Canada. They operated a fishing and hunting resort until the early 1980’s. He later worked for the city of Ear Falls. Carol moved back to Webster in October of 2021. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and tinkering with small engines.

He was preceded in death by his father Arthur, brother Clair Hootman and brother in law John Kerr.

He is survived by his mother Alice Hootman of Sigourney, sister Nancy Kerr of Webster, nieces Jan (Nick) Berg of Delta, Lisa A. Martin of Monroe, one nephew,  Richard (Amy) Kerr of South English, 11 great nieces and nephews, 14 great-great nieces and nephews, numerous friends and co-workers in  Ear Falls, Ontario, Canada.
