Raymond Dale Barnhart, 92, died March 1, 2018 at the Manor House in Sigourney. He was born November 16, 1925 in Sigourney to Edward and Gertrude Stokesberry Barnhart. He attended country school near Sigourney. Dale served in the United States Army during WWII. On October 22, 1946 he married Helen Ann Webb at the St. Elizabeth's Rectory in Harper. They lived and farmed north of Sigourney for 13 years and moved near Hayesville in 1959 and farmed until 1985. After farming he worked at the University of Iowa Hospitals for many years. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and was a janitor for five years.
He is preceded in death by his parents, step-mother Freda Barnhart, two grandchildren Ray and Brenda Barnhart, sister Ruth Barnhart, and brother Dean Barnhart.
He is survived by his wife Helen of Sigourney, children, Ron (Bonnie) Barnhart of Sigourney; Daryl (Diane) Barnhart of Hayesville; Dan (Loretta) Barnhart of Washington; Betty (Charles) Kitzman of Hayesville; Wanda (Gary) Bates of Keswick; 13 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and one on the way, two sisters Jean Appleget of Sigourney; Luetta Kracht of Sigourney; brother Don Barnhart of Sigourney.
