Dean Barnhart

Dean Barnhart, 88, of Sigourney, died Sunday, October 20, 2013, at the Keokuk County Health Center in Sigourney. He was born on November 16, 1924 near Sigourney, to Edward Harris and Gertrude Ruth Stokesberry Barnhart. He attended country school. On June 20, 1943, he married Audrey Kathleen Stull in Sigourney, Iowa. He served in the U. S. Army during WWII from 1943 to 1945. He was employed by the Keokuk County Highway Dept. for 31 years, retiring in December of 1987. He was a member of the Lancaster Christian Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife Audrey on July 4, 2000, his parents, son Maurice (Barney) Barnhart, daughter-in-law Nancy Garringer Barnhart, stepmother Freda Stroud Barnhart, and a sister Ruth Barnhart.
He is survived by his daughter Judy (Keith) Erwin of Sigourney, 4 grandchildren, Kathy Barnhart, Brent (Kristi) Barnhart, Jeffrey (Nancy) Pilkington, Rebecca (Justin) Leer, 5 great-grandchildren Brandon and Mason Barnhart, Judaah and Jacob Pilkington, Audeana Finch, 7 step-great-grandchildren, Allison, Kyle, Alexis, and Jenna Leer, Tory, Taylor, and Brady Albaugh, a great-great-granddaughter Gwendolyn Boggs, 2 brothers Dale Barnhart of Sigourney, Don Barnhart of Oskaloosa, and 2 sisters Jean Appleget and Luetta Kracht both of Sigourney.
