Donna Paarman, 86, died August 22, 2024, at Sigourney Health Care Center. She was born September 9, 1937, to Michael L and Cecilia Striegel Hammes near Clear Creek, Iowa. She attended Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic School at Clear Creek. On April 10, 1956 she married Don A. Paarman. They made their home in Keota, Don died April 8, 1978. She moved to Sigourney in 1979 she was employed at McNurlens Produce, Morgan Drive Away transporting mobile homes, and then self-employed driving pilot cars for several years. In 1981 she met Darryl Grimes. Donna and Darrell owned their semis and operated D & D Trucking business and drove for Cassens Mill and area farmers. Later she was employed by the Sigourney Community School District as a teacher associate and a bus driver until she retired. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and Altar and Rosary Society. She loved bowling, country music, cards, hickory nutting, yard work and her church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands Don Paarman and Darrell Grimes, son Don Paarman, six sisters Leola Heisdorffer, Agatha Conrad, Dolores Baker, Eveleen Ulin, Beatrice Clubb, Elizabeth Conrad and five brothers Edwin Hammes, Lawrence "Bud" Hammes, Marvin Hammes, Kenneth Hammes and Cletus Hammes.
She is survived by her children Debra Hicks of Cedar Rapids, Dennis Paarman of Kansas City, Kansas, Denise Bailey of Enola Pennsylvania, Dee Ann Hoffmeyer of Estherville, Iowa, Darryl Paarman of Springlake, North Carolina, Dawn Goldman of Sigourney, 22 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren with one on the way and 5 great-great-grandchildren.
