Dorothy Anne Samuels

Dorothy Anne Samuels, 83, died July 29, 2018 at the University Hospital in Iowa City, Iowa.  She was born June 19, 1935 to Raymond and Dorothy Morgan McCreath in Waterloo, Iowa.  She graduated from High School in Hamilton, Illinois, she attended Iowa Teachers College in Cedar Falls.  On December 28, 1962 she married Larry Gene Samuels at the Presbyterian Church in Hamilton, Illinois. Dorothy taught Business at Wapello High School from 1957-1976. Larry’s work took them to Houston, from 1976 to 1978 and later they moved to Sigourney in 1978. Dorothy was employed by Dick de Regnier Insurance and United Federal Savings in Sigourney.
She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Sigourney, served on the session and played the piano.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sister-in-law Mary McCreath, brother-in-laws Keith (Marcelene) Samuels, Lester Samuels and Bill Samuels and her cats Sassy, Freckles and Toots.
She is survived by her husband Larry, daughter Sheila (John) Ferree of Sigourney, three grandchildren Christian, Kelly and Kyle Ferree, her twin brother Rev. Dr. David (Ruth) McCreath, of Los Gatos, California, brother Daniel McCreath of Portland, Oregon, three sister-in-laws Mary Samuels of Wapello, Laura Samuels of Muscatine, and Doris Samuels of Wapello,  brother-in-law Jack (Shirley) Samuels of Wapello.
