Eveleen B. Ulin, 87, died January 23, 2009 at the Manor House Care Center in Sigourney, Iowa. Eveleen was born on a farm near Clear Creek, Iowa to Michael and Cecelia Streigle Hammes on February 8, 1921. She spent her childhood on the family farm and attended country school near Clear Creek. On August 25, 1943 she married Charles Ulin at SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Clear Creek. Eveleen spent her life being a mother, homemaker, and was an active participant in the family farm operation. She was an accomplished seam stress, cook and gardener. Eveleen was a lifelong member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Sigourney, Altar Rosary Society, and a member of West Laffer Club for 55 years. She participated in bowling leagues and tournaments from 1963-2002. She loved playing cards with family, friends, and spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived and lovingly remembered by her husband Charles Ulin of Sigourney, her daughters, Charlene(Rick) Hendryx of Des Moines, Rita Shewmake of Miami, OK, and Janice(Dennis) Moore of Keswick; her sisters Elizabeth Conrad, Beatrice Clubb, Donna Paarman, all of Sigourney; her brothers Edwin(Vivian) Hammes of Fairfield, John Marvin(Ruth) Hammes of Fairfield, Kenneth (Rosie) Hammes of Solon, and Cletus (Beverly) Hammes of Sigourney; her grandchildren Renee Lindaman of Las Vegas, NV, John Lindaman of Las Vegas, NV, Laura Moore of Montezuma, William (Shay) Moore of Sigourney, Charles(Mandy) Moore of What Cheer, Andrea Moore of Keswick, Scott (Kim) Smith of Madison WI, Shannon (Troy) Smith of Durango, CO, Angie Smith of Las Vegas, NV, and Kim Nguyen of Iowa City; step grandchildren Anne(Jason) Scafuri of McKinney, TX, Bart (Amy)Hendryx of Omaha, NE; 20 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Leola Heisdorffer, Agatha Conrad, Delores Baker and her brother Lawrence Hammes.
Funeral Services: Tuesday 10:30 St. Mary Catholic Church, Sigourney
Visitation 4 to 8 p.m. Monday where a prayer service will begin at 5:00p.m.
