Everett Nelson Derby, 93, died July 14, 2019 at his home in Sigourney, Iowa. He was born January 19, 1926 to Ralph and Minda Ferguson Derby near Rubio, Iowa. He attended country school in Keokuk County. Everett served in the United State Navy. On June 7, 1947 he married Betty Northup in Bloomfield, Iowa. They lived in Mt. Vernon, Delta and moved to Sigourney in 1967. Everett was a farm hand, janitor at the Delta school and later worked and retired from the D.O. T. in Sigourney. Everett was an avid lawn mower man and loved working on them. He also loved deer hunting and mushroom hunting. He was a member of Leo Farmer American Legion Post 19. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Betty on March 11, 2015, two grandchildren, one great-granddaughter, five sisters Wilma Davis, Theresa Petru, Ellen Lyngas, Myrtle Cihla, Ruth Baxter and one brother Homer Derby.
He is survived by his children Dallas Derby of Sigourney, Fred Derby of Sigourney, Darrel (Miva) Derby of Elberon, Stuart (Doris) Derby of Marengo, Kimberly (Terry) Grimm of Williamsburg, Valerie (Bryan) Lee of Webster, Melba Davis of Winterset, 24 grandchildren, 23 great- grandchildren.
