Fern Cassens, 94, of Centralia, Missouri died Friday July 23, 2010, at the Heritage Hall in Centralia. She was born November 14, 1915 in Austin, Missouri to Otis Monroe and Dora Belle Allen Lancaster. She attended country school in Missouri and Kansas. On November 2, 1947, she married Nicholas Cassens. They lived and farmed southeast of Sigourney. Nicholas died on August 24, 1983 and Fern soon moved to Centralia. She was a member of the Stoney Point Hustlers, and volunteered for OATS (Older American Transportation Service of Missouri), and at the Chance Museum in Centralia.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, 4 brothers, and 3 sisters.
She is survived by her son Nicholas Cassens Jr. and his wife Linda of Pleasanton California, a daughter Sharon Williams, 4 grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren.
Graveside Service - 10:00a.m. Wednesday at the Pleasant Grove Cemetery, Sigourney.
