Gene Thompson

Eugene "Gene" Thompson, 85, died January 10, 2015 at Parkview Manor in Wellman. He was born April 8, 1930 in Floris, Iowa to Emery and Nora Rodefer Thompson. He attended Floris, Bloomfield and Ottumwa schools and graduated from Ottumwa in 1950. He was baptized in Sauk Creek River at twelve years old and joined the Baptist Church in Floris. After high school he served in the Army from 1952 to 1954. Gene worked in Ottumwa at the brick and tile plants. He retired from Hormel in 1986 after working there for ten years. On April 7, 1992 he married Patsy Thompson in Lancaster, Missouri.

Gene was preceded in death by his parents, brother Forest Thompson, and sisters Willa Mae Black and Doris Stubbs.

Gene is survived by his wife Patsy Thompson of Sigourney, two step sons David (Jenny) Thompson of Sigourney, Phil (Boua) Thompson of Oskaloosa, step grandchildren Phillip Thompson, Casey (Amber) Thompson, Anita (Danny) Quanbeck, Chris Thompson, and Felisha Thompson. Two step great-grandchildren Gabriel and Neela, and nieces and nephews.

There will be a private family service at a later date.
