Helen Ann Barnhart 94, died November 15, 2018 at the Manor House in Sigourney. She was born March 2, 1924 in Sigourney to Charles and Coletta Sondag Webb. She graduated from Sigourney High School in 1942. Helen taught rural school for two years at Stoney Point. On October 22, 1946 she married Raymond Dale Barnhart at the St. Elizabeth’s Rectory in Harper. They lived and farmed north of Sigourney for 13 years and moved near Hayesville in 1959 and farmed until 1985. After farming she worked at the University of Iowa Hospitals for many years and later at the Keokuk County hospital in the kitchen. Helen made mints and silk flower arrangements for weddings and she loved to garden. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Altar Rosary Society, the Union Hall Hustlers, also volunteered and was a member of the Keokuk County Historical Society.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Dale, two grandchildren Ray and Brenda Barnhart, two brothers Paul and Francis Webb, two sisters Marie Vogel and Jane Weber.
She is survived by her children, Ron (Bonnie) Barnhart of Sigourney; Daryl (Diane) Barnhart of Hayesville; Dan (Loretta) Barnhart of Washington; Betty (Charles) Kitzman of Hayesville; Wanda (Gary) Bates of Keswick; 13 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren.
