Jerome F. Berg, 90, formerly of Sigourney, passed away following a brief illness on February 23, 2022.
Jerry was born February 24, 1931, in Clear Creek, Iowa to Nicholas H. and Magdelena Adam Berg. He married Kathryn G. Grimes December 6, 1952, in Kentucky.
Jerry attended school at Clear Creek township. After serving two years in Korea, he returned to Keokuk County and farmed for over 40 years. After retirement, Jerry and Kathryn built a home in Sigourney, where he lived until moving to Minnesota in 2016. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Sigourney, and an avid Iowa Hawkeyes football and St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan.
Surviving are his three sons, Don (Kathleen) Berg and Ed (Becky) Berg of Sigourney and Nick (Jan) Berg of Delta; three daughters, Kathryn (Dave) McNabb of Williamsburg, Anita (Ron) Yoder of Mound, Minnesota, and Sara Miller of Iowa City; 15 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; one brother, Bernard (Cleo) Berg of Wellman; and two sisters-in-law, Carole Sheetz of Grand Junction, Colorado, and Donna Fenske of Homer, Alaska.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; wife; brothers Leander, Ivo, Urban, Cletus and LaVernon; sisters Marie and Genevieve; and son-in-law Jay Miller.
The service will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, February 28, 2022, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Sigourney, with Fr. Robert Lathrop officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service. Burial will be in Pleasant Grove Cemetery, Sigourney.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jerry’s name to St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Sigourney, Safe Haven of Iowa County, or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
