Leatrice Benson

Leatrice Joy Jackson Abell Benson, 78, of Sigourney, died Thursday, December 30, 2010 at the Keokuk County Health Center in Sigourney, Iowa. She was born August 4, 1932 to George James and Nellie Mabel Rowe Jackson in Union County, near Afton, Iowa.
She attended school in Ringgold and Union counties. She married Lavel R. Abell June 18, 1950 they later divorced. On December 16, 1972 she married Harvey R. Benson. She was a homemaker, cook, bookkeeper, bank teller and a floral designer. She was a member of the Christian Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband Harvey, her parents 2 brothers, grandparents, parents-in law, a step-daughter Kathy Benson, and 2 great-grandsons.
Surviving are her children Danny and wife Cindy Abell, Cathy and husband Dan Tolly both of Oskaloosa, Rebecca and husband Larry Netten of Keota, Randal and wife Donna Abell of Eagleville, Mo., Dean and wife Carol Benson, Shirley Burnett both of Sigourney, George and wife JoAnn Benson of Richland, Dave and wife Vicki Benson of Delta, Lori and husband Dan Taghon of Sigourney, 25 grandchildren, 44 great grandchildren, 5 great-great grand children.

Funeral service 11:00 a.m. Tuesday January 4, 2011, at the Holm Funeral Home.
Burial Garrett Cemetery, Delta.
Visitation 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

A memorial fund has been established.
