Mary Elizabeth Dickinson, 83, died November 12, 2014 at the University Hospital in Iowa City, Iowa. She was born April 15, 1931 to Robert William and Viola Magdalena Sieren Martin near What Cheer, Iowa. She graduated from Sigourney High School in 1949. On December 26, 1949 she married Stanley Schmidt at St. Mary Catholic Church in Sigourney, they later divorced. They lived in Rock Island for 10 years and she worked at the Showboat Lounge. Mary returned to Sigourney and worked at Saners Resthaven. On October 27, 1963 she married Glenn Cy Dickinson in Sigourney. Mary and family travelled with Glenn living in many different locations during his construction career. They finally settled back in Sigourney and she worked for her brother Bob Martin at the Sportsmans Lounge, the White House, Spaghetts and later for Francis and Nancy Harris at Kinds Jack and Jill. Mary was always delighted to cook for all of the priest and their visiting guests from Father Lollich to Father Charles. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and Altar Rosary Society, serving as president for over 20 years. She enjoyed bowling and cheering for the Iowa Hawkeyes and the Sigourney Savages.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Glenn, her brother Bob Martin and a stepchild.
She is survived by her children Jenny Marie (Dave) Thompson of Sigourney, Dan Schmidt (Sheila Holland) of Cedar Rapids, Robbie (Bill) Albertson of Tiffin, Deborah Kay (Randy) Schultz of Sigourney, ten grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, seven step children.
Funeral Service: Monday 10:30 St. Mary Catholic Church, Sigourney
Prayer service: Sunday at 4:00 P.M. with visitation 4:30 - 7:00 P.M. at the Holm Funeral Home.
Burial: Pleasant Grove Cemetery, Sigourney
