Mary Louise Sieren, 87, died February 3, 2016 at the Manor House in Sigourney, Iowa. She was born December 2, 1928 near Sigourney to Ralph and Cleo Beall Seaba. She graduated from Sigourney High School in 1946 and attended the Iowa Teachers College in Cedar Falls and received her teaching certificate. She taught at 3 country schools from 1946 to 1949. On June 28, 1949 she married Kenneth Raymond Sieren at the St. Mary Catholic Church in Sigourney. They lived and farmed in Keokuk County raising their family. Mary Louise returned to teaching and taught at Delta, Keswick, and Tri-County schools from 1966 to 1991. During this time she attended night and weekend classes from William Penn College in 1973 with a degree in Education. She moved to Sigourney in 1993, was a member of the St. Mary Catholic Church and Altar and Rosary Society and Quilt Club in Wellman.
Mary had a true love for teaching and empowering the minds of anyone that she encountered throughout her life. Mary also found great joy in sewing blankets and quilting, putting love and hours into special gifts for her children and grandchildren ...as well as anyone she knew that was in need whether she knew them or not. Mary loved her garage sales and auctions, and relished in giving away her "treasures". Above all, Mary loved her family from the bottom of her heart, and took great pride in raising her children. She taught them how to be giving, loving, how to be responsible and always work hard. Mary's sense of humor, kindness and zest for life touched many. Mary was such a gift to her family and everyone who came into her life.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Kenneth on May 9, 1993, brother Floyd Seaba, and sister Dorothy Smith.
She is survived by her children Ron (Sheryl) Sieren of Fairfield, Ralph (Renee) Sieren of What Cheer, Jim (Susan) Sieren of Sigourney, Dorothy (Mike) Kerr of Washington, Charlie Sieren of Rose Hill, Carol (Ron) Knoot of Rose Hill, 17 Grandchildren, 22 Great-Grandchildren, and a brother Wilford Seaba of Sigourney.
