Nancy Harris

Nancy Carol Harris, 79, died October 23, 2022 at the Keokuk County Health Center in Sigourney, Iowa. She was born April 25, 1943 on a stormy Easter Sunday to Claude Carol and Vera Faye Wintermote Shepherd in Ottumwa. She graduated from Ottumwa High School in 1961. On May 6, 1961 she married Francis Leon Harris in Ottumwa. She was employed at Katie’s Bakery and a homemaker after the children were born. They lived in Canton, IL, Galesburg IL and in 1975 they moved back to Sigourney.  Francis and Nancy purchased Kinds Jack and Jill. Nancy ran the bakery and the deli for many years. Nancy and Francis were very active with community projects and activities.

She is survived by her children Nancy Ann Hackert of Sigourney, Robert (Beverly) Harris of College Place, Washington, William T. Harris of Kalona, 8 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Francis on August 16, 2019, son Danny Wayne Harris, two brothers Billie Ray Shepherd and Jackie LeRoy Shepherd.
