Teresa Hoffman went to be with her Lord on June 19, 2014 at Kavanagh House in Des Moines, after a 2-year fight with pancreatic cancer. Born in Fort Madison, Teresa was raised in Waukee, where she lived until her marriage to Tim Hoffman in 1996, when they established their home in Indianola. Teresa enjoyed volunteering for Hospice and served as care coordinator for their church, making many hospital and home visits to those in need.
They moved to Clive in 2002, where she volunteered with Hospice of Central Iowa at Kavanagh House.
In 2003, they moved to Sigourney, where they have farmed since. Teresa has been an active member of Lancaster Christian Church, teaching Sunday School, taking pictures of a host of church events, and serving on the church board until her illness forced her to leave the board. Teresa loved her Lord with all her heart, and she had a great burden for those who do not know Him.
Teresa had a great capacity for love and caring, and was much beloved by her family and friends. She had a great smile and an infectious laugh. She enjoyed travelling, baking, scrapbooking, stamping, photography and just about any other activity she could do with friends. Embracing her role as a farmer's wife, Teresa looked forward to harvest when she worked in the field with Tim. She loved caring for and playing with her yellow lab, Jake.
Teresa is survived by her husband, Tim, her son, Ryan DeWitt of West Des Moines, stepson, Jed Hoffman of West Des Moines, parents, James and Betty DeWitt of Waukee, sister Janice (John) Jordan of Sun City West AZ, and brother Jim DeWitt of West Des Moines.
