Tony John “Lou” Gehrig, 59, passed away peacefully at home with his family on August 10, 2021. Tony, the spitting imagine of his father (Johnny) was born February 24, 1962 to Johnny and Nancy (Coble) Gehrig. He was a lifelong resident of Sigourney. One evening while out dancing he met the love of his life Chris Stanley. They united in marriage on December 8, 1984. From this union came Tony’s pride and joys Christopher (32) and Shawnee (31). As a family they enjoyed air shows, grilling, family dinners, and outdoor activities such as: walks, target practice, fishing, hunting, and riding his motorcycle.
He is preceded in death by his father Johnny, mother Nancy, step-mother Joan, mother-in-law Grace Stanley, and his paternal grandparents John L. and Marie Gehrig.
Those left to cherish his memories are his wife Chris of Sigourney, son Christopher Gehrig of Reasnor, daughter Shawnee (Bryce) Satterly of Taylorsville, UT, sister Susie Sines of Hedrick, father-in-law Vernon Stanley of Sigourney, sister-in-law’s; Sherry Manville of Sigourney, Valerie Hoffer of Sigourney, half-brother Rick Shafranek of What Cheer and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Graveside Service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday August 14, 2021 at Pleasant Grove Cemetery. Celebration of Life to follow.
Memorials may be given to the Lewis Memorial Fountain or Keokuk County Sportsman’s
